The apartment is located at the bottom of Victoria Street at the east end of the Grassmarket. Victoria Street, which links the Grassmarket with the Royal Mile, is one of the prettiest cobbled streets in the city, full of interesting specialist shops and restaurants. The Grassmarket itself is an area steeped in history. For centuries it was the scene of public executions and in 1477 the area was granted a charter by James III to become the city’s main weekly market. Nestling in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle it is now a vibrant area teeming with bars, restaurants and street cafes.
During the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe and the Jazz Festival the area attracts an exciting mix of musicians and street theatre. It is the ideal central location from which to explore the city. The Royal Mile, and Edinburgh’s numerous tourist attractions are all within very easy walking distance and visitors planning a bit of shopping will find Princes Street and the more stylish George Street less than a ten minute walk away.
